Orange-fronted success on Chalky Island, New Zealand
Date: Sunday, June 18 @ New Zealand Standard Time
Topic:

Captive-raised orange-fronted kakariki translocated to pest-free Chalky Island last year in remote Fiordland, New Zealand are currently sitting on four nests, three of which have eggs. This is fantastic news for the long-term conservation of this species in the wild, and will hopefully lead to a self-sustaining population on the island. Forest and Bird Society magazine (Issue 320, May 2006) report in Conservation Briefs (p. 5).
