Confusion over mutations in Australia

It would appear there is some confusion over the two yellow mutations in the red fronted Kakariki here in Australia. Unfortunately there will always be unscrupulous dealers who will try to sell the cheaper Mottled pieds as Black eyed clears. My advice to prospective buyers is if you have any doubts then talk to a breeder. Remember the old adage "If something sounds cheep then it probably is". The black eyed clears are relatively low in numbers in this country and as such the prices for this mutation is well above that of the mottled pieds. There are pictures of the two mutations in the gallery of this site to help with identification.
