i have noticed that my pair of cinamons and their offspring are more darker and more greener than other cinamons which i have noticed. debbie has givin me a butiful cinamon pied but she is more yellow and a lighter colour than my birds.

it has made me wonder how could they be diffrent and what would happen if i paired the two diffrent colours together.

thanks

Zigzag,
The cinnamon mutation tends to "fade" as a bird gets older or if it has access to direct sunlight. This may explain the difference in colour you have noticed. There is also some colour variations amongst Kakariki themselves even in the normal coloured birds. This has been covered on the site in a previous thread.

If you can post some pictures that would help identify whether the colours have in fact faded.

I have about ten cinnamons together in one large aviary. Their ages vary from a few months old to about four years and now that you guys mention it, there is quite a difference between the younger ones and the older ones. The older birds are quite drab and dull compared to the younger more golden youngsters.
