Hi
I was wondering if anyone can help me with a small problem. I have a pair of red Kaki's and a pair of yellow crown kaki's.
The yellow pair were seen doing the deed the week we put them in.
I did not go any where near the nesting boxes as I did not want to upset them. A month on and it got the better of me. She has been into every box and not layed an egg.
She has gone through the motion every second day and gone into a box, as they do to lay an egg.
We were told they were a breeding pair and had successful clutched before.
The person we bought them off said they have not had a nesting box in with them for about 18 months.
What am I doing wrong?
Maybe they don"t like their new home.
Both pair are in together. I have read that this is ok.
They are all happy other then that and are very well looked after and loved.

We have a pair that for several yrs do the same thing, occasionally lay, and no results...We have paired them up to others, but strange...the same happens.
We keep them because they are friendly, happy, and we are attached to them....as a breeder, thats a waste of avairy space.
A reputable breeder does one of these things..
1/As above
2/Cull them
A disreputable breeder will pass them on, and since they are a pair, sell them as such.....
Breeders pair up selected birds, for a reason, then if successful, keep them....they dont normally sell them. When they get older, fertilty drops, they are often sold off as pets, and the new owners are told.
Umfortunately far too often, dollars are motivation and this doesnt happen. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
