Hello everyone-

Well, we have a total of 5 babies. (and the hen has begun laying again). I believe out of the 5, 2 will be Lutinos. They have the bright red eyes and the pins coming in on the tail and wings are bright yellow. I am quite excited. The others will be Cinnamons (as far as I know). From the excellent info I hve gotten of this site, it appears that the adult male is a Fallow. The hen is definitely a Cinnamon. But, the colors coming in on the babies are different then the father. The father just has a red tint to his iris. These chicks have totally red red eyes.

I will take some photos of the chicks. I am not the best photographer in the world...I will warn you all ahead of time.

Hi Jessie,

Congratulations with the chicks. The difference in eyecolour is imputed to that the eyes are not fully developed. Usually the iris starts to change in the 5-6 week and reaches full colouring around the end of the 4 month.

I am verry curious to see some photos.

Thank you for the reply. So, basically what you are saying is I will have no idea what they actually are for another few weeks...if the iris develops dark or stays red.

I have been trying to take some photos but as you know, baby Kaks do not sit still for a minute. I will most definitely get some posted quickly so I can definitely figure out what they are.

Normals are born with black eyes.
Lutinos and Fallows are born with red eyes.
Cinnamons are born with red eyes and change quickly into black.

The irises follow next.

Hey Peter,

If lutino's are borned with red eyes ,changed the colour after a few weeks also dark ??
I have two birds and they are born with the red eyes , now there eyes colour is dark.
Are they now lutino or are they black eyes,I wonder ??
I know you have an yellow bird with red eyes.
How do you call that mutation ??

Your bird must be a combination of the Golden yellow (DEC) with Lutino.
Check the pic below of Rob's Golden yellows. You can clearly distinguish the Golden yellow and the combination with Lutino.
