She recently began presenting this behavior. Only in the small training room, which she loves to go to. Is this sexual presentation? If so, how can I take her mind off this, other than getting another kakariki?
Yep, this is sexual presentation. She considers you as her partner and since kakariki come easily into breeding mode, it happens. I have no experience with kakariki as a pet. In my aviary holding I notice frequently matings and never have found any eggs. Since there is no possibility(nesting boxes) to lay eggs I think this is the trigger to reckon with.
So, do not allow any nesting possibility. Otherwise there is a danger that she starts to lay eggs.
I wounder if she was around a hen house ??
Yes what Peter says but it seems she has an accent??
We have a house parrot, a king parrot, which dosent speak King, speaks kakariki...he was raised with kakariki and no Kngs. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
She was pulled from the nest just before fledging b/c the hen was pulling all her feathers. I think the breeder had many types of birds. She stayed in a pet store with many types of birds for about 3 weeks till fully weaned after being pulled. For three months no other birds. She began with this display almost to the day a pair of parrotlets moved in.
I stopped taking her to the training room for about a week. She did this only one time out of training room about 3 days ago when I play guitar. Today took her to training room and she did not do the display.
