So one of the main problems with our birds is more than likely caused by lack of Flight Time. So what we need to know is what is safe or not safe to have in the room when the little tykes are out and about.

They live in our main living room which I have to say is quite cluttered. What I would like is a list of dangers that people know of and maybe a few pictures of good habitat for them, things to put in for them.

Also I would love some suggestions on types of toys that suit them and good ways to set them up. Again pics would be great. I have been told that toilet roll tubes can be made into great toys.

We have a big plastic container for use as a bath which they love and another which is lined with sandpaper and filled with gravel which we try to hide a few seeds or meal worms in occasionally. Also a couple of wooden balls and a Peach stone (which they spend ages trying to crack). I made a ladder out of garden bamboo cane and twine which is strung across the cage and there is a swing and a wooden bell which are awkward to fit in the cage as there are no bars across the top of the cage (it has a roof like a house instead).

I really need to get them out and flying so i need to know what to remove from the room and what stuff they need to make it fun and useful to them. Please post lots of pics.

Thanks,

Fangio.

Remove from the room edable stuff that you would not have your children put in their mouth...
Watch for the gap behind wall units and furiture
Its best to have net curtains over windows..stop them flying into...and mirrors can be a similar hazard..till they find out what a window and mirror is....If u have a very large room, and the hit these at full speed they can injure themselves, smaller rooms they dont get up enough speed.

Table flowers, roses etc ok what for piosonus plants.
Cigatette buts and tobaco match heads.
pictures and orniments if small/unstable can be knocked over.

Shag pile carpets, they can get claws hooked up

Bottom line, 1/2 cover mirrors for a while, couple days..
I would expect that u guys will be there while out most of the time..like chldren, keep an eye on them...let them go, watch and learn..thats 1/2 the fun.
Yo will fnd they will go hi, and just sit, get their bearngs for quite a while, even a few days...as they get confidence...the fun starts.
Enjoy them.
