I have a three year old male red fronted kakariki called Birdie...gorgeous bird. Unfortunately, my fiance doesn't think so. Birdie talks and talks and talks. We also don't have the room for him anymore. We used to keep him on a balcony but since we've moved, we have no covered area outside, therefore, his cage takes up the back room. I would love to keep him outside because he loves it out there but it's just not possible, besides, he would drive the neighbours nuts.

Just wondering...how would I go about finding a new home for him? I have tried to put it off for so long. I don't really want to part with him but my fiance says he gives him no enjoyment at all, he just makes a mess and drives him crazy with his constant talking, saying "What are you doing?" over and over again.

I must admit, it can get annoying but I can block it out and we're the ones who taught him to speak.

I just can't take it everyday, he says, "That bird's got to go." I defend Birdie every day but I just get yelled at and told that he's not going to put up with him any more.

Any ideas...I don't want to just drop him off at a pet shop - not all pet shops would understand kakarikis.

Hi Penny,

What a shame. Maybe an ad on PetLink will find you a good home for Birdie if it comes to that. I think it would be better for you all for you to work on the fiance.

Best of luck (poor birdie)

I tend to agree - get rid of the BF, keep the bird.

I am blessed with a loving family and a large flock. I wish you were in the U.S., I would love another one.
