hi guys ,dont know how to start this my beautiful lutino hen who looked a million dollars and was on the nest i lef her this morning with the cock and babe in nest they were flying around being their mad selves chirping as to say yippi its moring play time , i gave them their banquet and clean water as usual hen went out for a few hrs when i got back the hen was on the rope perch i put up for them(nothing out of the blue ) but i thouught after being in the room for 5 mins she hasnt circled me gone nuts to me coming to see them as they usually do so i approched her she didnt look herself , so straight away i put her in a hospital box and down to my avian vet i went, 10 mins away got to the vets he looked her over said she looked in fantastic condition he gave her a sho of antibiotics i got her home straight away and into her nest box she climbed , i kept a eye on her from the second she went in her box via cctv ten mins later she kealed over and died , so im getting through this rather large bottle of scotch as we speak any one any ideas vet thought might be a virus?
i keep my birds very clean twice a week clean them out (antibacerial)
wash down , fresh water twice a day and every fruit and veg i can give them before my wife says stop weve nothing left for tea (really spoilt looked after well all types of seed given as she was on the nest egg and various additions during her diet , the cock looks great but feel so crap as hes going out of the nest and calling her but hes being brilliant hes sitting on the chick and feeding it i belive let nature work its magic how ever cruel it may be and he vet said i was doing more than feed them (i was loving them ) wish i knew what it was guys any ideas , thanks 4 lisening 2 me babble just a bit of a wreck here funny yeah 42 year old guy crying over a bloody bird sad guys hope i can write sum happy news about the chick soon

I dont believe in sterilization like this
There is a diference between cleani and sterilized
Too sterlized and us, our children and pets do not get the chance to build up natural resistance....and then there is the issue of the chemicals, many of these are extremely toxic, thu not at low levels, but can cause issues of long periods of exposure.

Or are you sure she was not egg bound.. that is usually fatal is not caught very early

Why not? The male feels the same, but has the advantage of the distraction of raising the chicks...he cant afford th luxury of a bottle whiskey

I'm so sorry for your loss. They are such beautiful little birds, so easy to get attached to them and love them to bits. I'd be reaching for the bottle of scotch also. Hope all goes well with chick.
