My Kakariki is really poorly....just over 2 years ago she had a stroke from excessive laying. Although I managed to save her she could never fly and her feathers never really grew back to what they were. She was happy enough plodding about and running around the front room, however just recently all her feathers have started to fall out (mainly tail feathers) and her eyes are swollen and bald and look really sore and watery. She is still bathing and eating etc but looks so pitiful. I really need advise as my vet doesnt deal with exotic birds [/img]
A couple drops of invermectin on the back of the neck
Then repeated 10 to 12 days later
A antibactrical injection for the eye infection
Maybe a calcuim/mineral/vitimin boost
Wash down the cage /toys and spray with vinegar, and add a little apple cider ninegar to th veggies and a few drops in the water. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
Thank you for the advice. Is there any other way I could treat the eye infection other than injection as I dont feel confident in doing this as I have never done this kind of thing before.
Injections are given by a vet...
The vet will know or test to ID the infection and dose the appropiate antibiotics.
And Peter is very much hands on breeder of many years experiance, I have the utmost respect for his advice _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
Luckily I have managed to track down an avian vet....hoorah....I have called him out rather than put her through the trauma of transportation. I will let you know how she gets on. Many thanks for all your help :D
