We have a chick in the nest that appears to be quite an unusual colour.

It has bright red eyes (not plum eyes as in a cinnamon). At first sight, it looks like a buttercup/lutino although it has green feathers between the wings that are the same colour as a cinnamon or fallow. Siblings are normal pieds and cinnamon pieds.

Parents are a normal pied cock (90% pied) and a cinnamon pied hen (95% pied). The cock is certainly split for a few things and the hen may be as well.

Our first thoughts are that it is a fallow pied. Any ideas?

Will add a photo at the weekend.

If both parents have that amount of pied it probably is a pied. To my knowledge Fallow is the only mutation that causes bright red eyes. So it might be a Fallow pied. I'm looking forward to a photo.

Here are some photos. Unfortunately the green between the wings is not very clear, but the red eyes have come out well.

Yes, it's a Fallow recessive pied. As it is a recessive pied, the eyes will get darker(wine red) and no iris.

Thanks. Looks like a cock bird so we'll now have to look for a hen to go with him. We bred a fallow cock a couple of years ago and are still looking for a hen!
