I 1st published this web site 5 yrs ago between 10th and 14th of OCt 2004.
Not with any seruousness, but rather as a learning curve running a web server....
And it just got out of hand Shocked
If it wasnt for the fast growing community over the next 6 months, and the huge data base of information members added, It would not still be here today... thumb
It is amazing that after all these yrs how many of those orginal members are still active today...not just posting but continue to visit....and each day the number off non members who research information, some for months then join when they have a question they cant find an answer to.

Another amzing thing, is the personal friendships that have grown, not just in the forums, but members actually meeting each other, across borders, Oceans, and even from opposite sides of the earth. thumb
Things like in NZ we mention freeding puha, and when visiting members in Europe...piont out "see that weed in the cnr of your garden, thats puha"
Its not about how many members, or if people join, it is about awareness of kakariki, care of kakariki, and without our core members this would never have happened... Applause
Everything from the web and mail servers (hardware) to software , band widths, domain names and maintance is covered and built by by me...
I made a call very early on...this will not be a commercial web site, no advertising, unless a particular product would be usefull to those who have kakariki, and this is free..and no google advert links etc...Im happy with the statis quo, This policy still exists today and into the future.

I have leant a lot over the last 5 yrs and continue to do so...

Happy Birthday Guys
And thanks
cheers
Steps.

Thanks go to you as well Steps.

If I have been slightly successful with kakariki is thanks to this site, and myself got to meet Peter Wouters while living in Belgium last winter. It was very nice meeting him and watching his awesome birds.

For many more years to come... cheers

I'm popping a beer open to celebrate.

have a nice weekend everyone

It's incredible what a website can do. I had a meeting with Pablo(Spain), Peter Limburg(Netherlands) and Jim Mcivor(NZ). Moreover I learnt a little English.
Thanks Steptoe
