Here is Trouble at last had problems with internet for awhile.
Need some advice on the babies they have been out of the nest for nearly 2 weeks and notice the boy is becoming a bully to mum and the other baby pulling the tails feathers and biting the other baby on the beak is it time for them to come out as dad is still feeding them and they are eating on their own but still go to dad for a daily feeds.

yes...Peter L suggested to use to move young early into a holding flight and other birds in there will take over feeding them..
So we put the 1st batch of this season in with a male who is isolated because very terroritorial...and stood by with nets ...
There was not an instance of aggression, exact opposite, he just started to feed...and in the evening we expected a bit of pecking order for roosting spots....none
This will become std practice for us in the future.

Did you simply throw the chicks into the new aviary togetehr with the male, or the male was already there on his own? etc?
I don't know if this will work with kakariki, but a couple of colleagues that breed English Budgies, whenever they feel there could be an aggression from the female, or a parent that rampaged the chicks in the past, they place a wire nest door so the parents are still able to feed the chicks but not enter the nest, and when the chicks are ready to fledge they move them to an adjacent section in the cage, with a "separator" made of bars or wire. So the same, they are physically apart but the parents still feed through the bars/wire.
In an aviary not an option, but I read somewhere in a book or online that a budgie breeder usually placed a cage inside the breeding flight as chicks started to fledge, so he could tell fledgings from parents. The parents would still fly to the cage to feed their siblings and he could separate the youngsters.

Male was already there, been there for about a yr, and he would beat up on any mature birds put in, and when put in the holding flight did the same there....

thanks for your advice but l dont have spare aviary with a male in it so would it still be fine to move them into a aviary by them self as l have some one waiting to take the little girl when ready or wait a little longer.

After abiout 2 weeks, out of the nest they are quite capable to feed afor themselves...even if a males still occassionaly feeds them. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
