Hello - thank you for a fab site! I am new to it, and need some help! We have just aquired a lovely Kakariki (red faced) who we have had for about 4 weeks. He was 15 weeks old we were told. We now seem to have an aggression problem developing. You cannot put your fingers anywhere near his cage (even fastening the food bowls back in) without him REALLY trying to get at you. When he is out (which we let him out everyday - usually for about and hour or two) he will gladly come and land on you, sometimes settle, chatter away etc no problem. BUT if you ask him to step up onto your hand he MAY do, or MAY be open beaked, eyes pinning etc and have a go. When we have tried to discipline him he properly goes for us, open beaked, wings out and biting (and it hurts!), flying off very quickly so we cannot do the quick flick on the beak. I would appreciate any help that you could offer as I don't want this to get any worse. I have removed the mirror that was in his cage.
PLEASE HELP!
