I have had a bad experience with an online pet shop and want to share it with you so you can avoid them.

Others may want to post their experiences in the thread so we can all avoid making the same mistakes.

I ordered some perches for our cage from pet-supply-store.co.uk on October 15th. I received an automated order confirmation. I then waited for the perches to arrive. I expected them to take up to 2 weeks to arrive. After 10 days I was checking my credit card online and noticed that no charge had been made for the perches. I sent an email to the company to ask the status of my order. I waited for a reply all the next day but none was forthcoming. I sent a more urgent and angry request for my order status. I received a reply the next day stating that the items were out of stock but were expected the next week. I was offered an option to cancel but as they said they were due in I opted to continue with the order.

I checked my credit card again the other evening and still no charge, no sign of my perches and absolutely no communication from them. I am furious both with them for not telling me anything unless threatened as well as messing me about and with myself for not cancelling when I had the chance. I sent another email and got no reply at all today, it is now 9:30 PM and I have sent a very angry email cancelling the order.

I advise anyone who is thinking about using them to avoid http://www.pet-supply-store.co.uk/ like the plague.

Fangio.

I ordered a nice big new cage for my kak last week from northern parrots, it arrived within 3 days of the order but the front panel was damaged and i'm sure there is a part missing but as there were no assembly instructions includued i cant be sure.

I contacted northern parrots and they told me that it was another company that sent the cages (they didn't tell me the name) and they would call them and them get them to call me and that the cage company would e mail the instructions. Liar The instructions were never sent and untill they are i wont be able to order the part that's missing which means more time spent waiting for deliveries. wall

so order anthing you want from northern parrots as long as its not a cage.

A word of advice on advice..on anything..
When seeking, already know a few basics, but bit obscure technical points
A ask as if u dont know..
eg how to set premium timing on a new hot rod engine, and tell what intial u will need?
Either they Come up with some BS

they will advise correct
or Suggest someone or where u can get the answer

The "advise correct" remain suspious of their creditablity
"Suggest someone" these people have given u the right advice in your interest...they tend to be ppl who do know their stuff

Pet shops and computer are notorious for BS

I can't believe they said that, thats ridiculous!
There are some terrible petshops around, there should be tougher laws, i've been to some pet shops that are in a terrible state and others that just don't don't have a clue what they are talking about, I went to one near where I live to buy some rainbowfish, they had a few pairs of different rainbows in the same tank, I asked for the pair of dwarf ones only to be told basically i'd get whatever she could catch and that they were all the same anyway!
Argghhhhh!! They wind me up. The sad thing is that store has started to stock marine fish, god knows how long they will last in a shop run by fools!
I have lots of stories about idiots in pet shops but there are so many I could write a book!

Yes i've had that problem, two of my fish survived then while they were in the hospital tank my heater broke and they died, the water only went down a couple of degees but they are so sensitve!
So I gave up on the hobby after that.
Now i've got my Kakariki i'll stick with him he's much easier to keep happy!
Even though he is a little monkey and has bit me a few times!

id just like to say that i worked at porton for a short amount of time and they are actually a brilliant pet shop and they really look after all the animals well. due to their being so many animals it can be hard on certain days to keep up with both animals and customers but they manage very well and all the animals are kept clean and well fed. occasionally their are going to be a couple of problems but i would bet anyone that they have less problems then many other pet shops that are out their, i understand their are bad pet shops occasionally because i am studying an animal related course and was made aware of how to spot a bad pet shop and trust me porton is definantly not one of them.
