Yes kakariki will go to nest here in the coldest week of the yr with heavy frost on the ground....
you will have to pull the 'teils ot of the flight.

Hi!

if the aviary is big enough tiels and kikes should be ok together.
But if the tiels show interest to breed maybe you should pull them out as Steps suggests. It can be a problem for the female cockatiel to lay eggs in very cold weather.

Although this year I'm giving it a try breeding cockatiels in winter.
We'll see what happens.

Cheers / Pablo

8' by 6'sounds good

I have bred 1 pair of kikes with up to 3 pairs of tiels in a flight 6'x3' and they did fine.
1 pair of each species seem to be ok, 1 + 3 was a bit crowded, 1+2 didn't work because 2 pairs of cockatiels in the same flight don't seem to breed well, at least didn't work for me.
1+1 seems to work best, although I'm tempted to try next season adding a pair of bourkes or some other good natured bird.

Good luck!

Pablo
