The breeder wasn't sure if this was a male or female, although he is very expereinced. Really, he has about 500 birds! He/she hasn't bonded with any hens, but sits with the known male.[/img]

Last one. I can try to take more if these aren't clear enough. He/she wouldn't sit close enough for a good shot!

hi!

to me it looks like a female because of the head and beak shape, especially the head is small compared to the rest of the body, whereas in males the head tends to be bigger and the beak wider.

But I'm not very sharp eyed to distinguish males from females in pictures.

Cheers / Pablo

That's what I was thinking too. S/he is in a suspended aviary with a pied male and pied hen, in the hope that the hen would bond/mate with one (or both!) males.

To me, the pied hen and yellow s/he have a more similar head shape than the male. The beak is harder to pick, as they don't sit still long enough! <v>
