now that looks like a wide selection of seed just what i need .... i cant seem to find a good source local... every where sells the odd bit but not every need is taken care of.
it is a bit of travel but i buy in bulk and travel anyway so thanks robo!!!
the one i travel to at the mo is called Capricorn connections on the outskirts of wakefield,
owners are really knowledgeable and one used to breed kaks which helped me when i needed to hand rear for supplies and valuable advice
but saddly the dont sell everything hence the need of a decent supplier.

yes thanks robo that would be great does he deliver? ... steps at the mo i get my sand and chrushed oyster shell in 25kg sacks from amazon as its not that expensive but i know i can probably get it cheaper, as for the seed im struggling to find one ... there used to be a few who sold every variety in bulk but breeding birds isn't as popular as it used to be round here so they have mostly closed except for a few pigeon suppliers .

Here is their web address Bruce - however - their website does not display 1/3 of waht they sell in store - If ever you are in the Haydock area I would def recommend you stop by and have a look in.

Their address is on the site

This is practically our local bird shop and they do get a great range of birds in at times, some very nice all yellow (sorry i dont know the right terminology - lutino?) kaks in last time i was in there.

Not many places stock birds anymore around here, bird flue, eu import ban, and large chains taking most if the business away for consumables, but clipsley lane shop is the best around here.

really good advice guys ... thanks.

manders this supplier is going to have to have me visit it ... sounds like our old local milleas pet supplier which sadly closed nearly 10 years bk because of the big chains and low demand.

whan my family home bred canarys and such loads of people bred birds and u didnt have to go far for advice ... but when i decided to give it a go i was stuck i new no-one.... so its a good job there are sites like these!!!!!

Hi!

I'd suggest to those of you in the UK that have problems to find supplies to get in touch with any of the English budgie clubs, or forums, like this one
http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/

I'm sure the top-level breeders have a reliable store to buy good quality seed and other supplies at a reasonable price.

Here in Spain I have been using a canaries forum to find shops, etc... and there is interesting stuff. As Steptoe says, if you weigh quality/price and then factor in the gas, time spent, etc... it's possible that maybe it's worth to order seed and get it shipped, rather than buying it.

My personal case is that I have a large seed warehouse 100m away from my gf's place, but price is high, and quality ridiculously low (and many times old seed, full of dust), so... I buy my seed somewhere else.

I buy 2x25kg canary seed, and 2x20 cockatiel mix each time. And a 5kg bag of millet spray to use when chicks jump from the nest.

Eggfood I make it at home with eggs and flour, then freeze it and use it over 1-2 months. It's too expensive for me to buy a commercial brand (price is 4-5€/kg)

Cheers / Pablo
