Very important veggie, and meat, espec gristle as in the end of the chicken breast bone, and protein.

A thread called "what do u feed......"

Do not be suprised that the chicks coming out of the nest are larger and fuller than theparents...even a female chick larger than the dad.

Thu this does depend on the parents are already eating at least 5 to 6 time more veggie/meat than seed.

I note here that 3 of our pair, with chicks are lucky to comsume 1 hand full of seed in a week and half.....I have been considering not even bothering with seed at all.

Read the thread "what do you feed your....."
you do have the 2nd nesting box in there right?
If not, do it now!

You do have a holding flight to keep the chicks after they have been weaned....about 2 to 3 weeks after leave the nest.
A flight with a couple mature single males, to move the chicks into once they get reasonably compentent at flighing.....The single males will wean the chicks, leaving the orginal male to tend to the next batch
If u dont, dont worry, the male will waen and atend to the next family fine.

Other than that leave them be

Dont put a 2nd nest box in and a real good chance the female will lay again, get terroritial and hurt thecurrenr chicks in the current nesting box.
With the 2nd, the hen lays sits and the cock bird feeds here and the lder chicks.

not likely to happen, as steps says the male keeps on feeding the young while the hen goes for the 2nd clutch in the new nest

hope its all going ok...! i dont have my birds in a flight they are in large parrot cages but just a quick note on what i do....

when i put the nest boxs on i start feeding a moist egg food (bought dry and mixed up with a little warm water) once a day along with the normal supply of mixed seed n fresh food ... i make sure they have cuttlefish and a mineral block. i use a deep cockatile nest box on the outside of the cage with the hole lined up with an open feed door but cut the hole bigger so they can get in n out (my birds are quite big) i dont have room for 2 of these on the cage.... but i use a budgie box inside the cage with the end taken off and when the mum starts to lay again i move the chicks to the other box... dad then takes over the feeding and mum starts again... this hasnt caused any probs yet, but they are used to me handling the babies and seem to trust me.

i guess that method is ok also, if you breed indoors you can place the chicks in a wooden box as you do

about moistening eggfood.... no need to do that, just mix it with the diced veggies or sprouts, or leave it dry and the birds will eat and drink as needed, just my humble opinion
