Well last time we had snow here was 1939 !!!!
Our kakariki nest all yr round...in outside basic avairies/flights

Well they still have an early morning bath
Several chicks hatched nps during the big chill

Basically the birds didnt even care.

All my kaks are wimps then. They complain about 64F.

I had one kak who used to love to watch the snow fall. On a day with fluffy snow flakes, he'd sit by the window all day watching.
I would bring in a tray of snow for him. Kind of funny seeing a kak with snow on his head and beak.

Our guys were hatching eggs outside at -10C on xmas day last year, no probs at all.

I don't have precise statistics, but I'm pretty sure I have lost more kakariki during summer than during winter, and here the seasons are generally mild, we rarely go below zero, and rarely above 30C
