i bought two kakarikis from a lady in wales about 3 months ago.. one was alot bigger than the other but i think it was younger now its getting bigger. i was told they were a pair male and female. and i look on here how to tell between male and female. one is bigger than the other and the beak is wider. the younger one beak has grown but is not as wide.. ones heavier.. but im not too sure. i will put pictures on here and if anyone can help me out..the one thats beak is wider keeps chasing the other one all the time and she makes a noise and flies off
feel free to post pics
in any case, it's "easy" to tell male from female if you have them side by side. The male's beak, head, etc... is larger.
But don't be disencouraged, for some reason (visual acuity or I don't know the reason), I'm not very good at telling male from female, even in flesh, I'm usually doubtful, and I have been keeping kakariki for 5 years.

There seems to be a lot of yellow in the crown, not as well defines as should be in a pure red crown species. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
