At the moment my female and male have a chick at 2 weeks old (the only fertile egg-first clutch), and the other day i entered another nestbox into their aviary cage. In the last few days, the female seems to be spending a bit more time outside the box and resulting in the pair mating a few times a day, however recently, the male has started to get a bit aggressive, he chases her round the cage and they seem to try and bite eachother, is this just because he wants to mate, and she doesn't?
She is now in the last hour or so laying in the second nestbox, i suppose shes laid an egg because theres been a dip in the middle for a few days.
Is this behaviour usual, or should i be worired?
He seems to be aggressive one minute and attentive and caring the next- should i just let them do their thing??
Any advise appreciated.
General parrot behavour where the male 'actively encorages' the female to go to nest.....sometime the females is quite happy to , other times/pairs the female needs 'encouragement.'
Sounds very chavanistic..but at the end of the day, the eggs get laid in the nesting box... _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
