hi there i have a pair of red fronted lutino kakarikis deffenatly one cock and one hen june 2011 birds and i have only just put them together 3weeks ago and all they seem to do is keep chasing each other and seems to be nasty not love any adivce please
I have had pairs that would have a fight and 5 mins later they were mating and the male regurgitating food to the female.
If you see they fight all the time then maybe it's better to split them up and eithe re-unite them later or find a different partner _________________ AD ASTRA PER ASPERA
We gave up choosing birds to pair a long time ago...they are live animals not machines...It seemed more often than not they would fight or ignore each other and even get on feed but never go any further...
Whe one has as many flights as we do it takes up vasluable space for a long time to hopefully pair them off.
Now we throw choosen birds into a flight with a nesting box for each of the pairs....They choose who pair with who...As we identify the pairs they are removed with a nesting box to a separate flight
We put together between 6 and 10 birds.
What we have noticed is they do not choose close relatives, and the resulting off spring far better looking and stronger birds. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
