Hi Steptoe and all

Well we located the breeder and my little bird is not his Laughing he is a member of the parrot society, he has heard nothing about anyone losing a bird so he says we should keep him.
So you will be pestered by me very often I'm sure.
Got to give him a name now and hubby is going to make him a big aviary outside for the summer.
He comes out of his cage everyday for about 3 hours ( his choice ) then off he goes back in all by himself -probably because he's hungry by then.
But he won't come onto the hand yet although he doesn't move away so in time I'm sure he will- not going to push him-he'll do it when he's ready.
I am now the carer of my beautiful Kakariki, he really is gorgeous but will he be lonely on his own. I am so pleased Laughing
Many, many thanks to you and others for your kind help
patti

I agree with allen that the bird is a pied red crown and certainly seems to be a cockbird. Also note the pink on his feet. This can be another sign of a bird being pied.
