Hi, I am new here but you have two questions I can help answer. One, eggs are viable for long periods of time according to the species. Chicken eggs can stay safe for 3 months. I would be very patient and not touch the eggs for at least a month unless the Kakariki people say different.

The other question- about talking- Kak's mimic with the best of them- only with a NZ accent! signlol! Laughing When you teach them to talk you have to repeat the same word or phrase over and over- make it exciting not slow and boring. It helps if you do this during feeding times and if you cover the cage and have the recording next to it. (at least I do). The parrot seems to talk to the imaginary mate on the other side. My kakariki always puts the riki tiki riki tiki with the word but he definitely says words. You can hear it better in a quiet room, with no tv or music playing.
