Bring her inside, keep her warm (25 - 30 C) and out of draughts / wind. Check that she is eating and drinking, try and tempt her to eat with her favourite food.

Be carefull when you catch her, check her abdomen, she may be egg bound. Feel her gently, if you can feel a hard lump / egg, try and warm her with a little steam from hot water and rub some oil (petroleum jelly) on her lower abdomen. You need to get the egg out without it breaking inside her.

Often when a bird looks like this, it tends to be quite far gone and dies quite quickly but warmth can help her resist whatever is wrong.

Sorry for reading this message so late, I have been ill and was very sad because I lost one of my african grey parrots.

Truude s kakakarike has got a few eggs and the hen was still on them after at about 22 days so she decided to take a look at the eggs, and had one egg in her hands. but at the moment she did this she a got diabetic attack, and the egg fell out of her hands helas,

It as wa vertile eggs and she hopes that the other 3 or more will come out one of these days.

she will keep us posted what happens.

I, marianne, havent got eggs yet, only 5 eggs from one cockatiel, but the weather here was very stange, a difference of almost 30 degrees Celcius in two weeks time !

Truude''s kakariki got two eggs, the eggs came out, and helas after a few day the mother died.

She has one chicken left now and she is handfeeding it, because she is not sure if the father isdoing this.

I hope this chick stays alive...

I will keep you posted.

Marianne.
