Very sry to hear of your loss....
And missed the orginal post (international time zones)
"marking on her foot"
Think something gets lost in translation...
do u mean the leg bands ?
If u do, many of use do not use them....
Birds get caught up, miss fitting as chicks and circulation etc
I lost one bird yrs ago caught up, and nearly lost another...
Since then the closest I have got to using leg bands was a small padlock on a Sulpur Crested I used to take everywhere, even to the pub and on the motor bike....
I had to use a key padlock cause we would undo every other type of chain clip.
I use this as a rule of thumb
If the pet had a good life, good food and treated well, it was given and enjoyed a good life given to it by the 'owner' that is what matters even if for a short time.
I would take a short and happy life over a long and bad one anyday
U should see the condition some of the rsuced birds given us are in, your bird just wouldnt come close that

im a horrible owner and its all my fault
Dont ever take that attitude, we have all made mistakes and things happen beyond our experiance and control. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
Im not sure howc much breeding u do...
But having a couple birds breeding is more like the family cat having kittens.
Look ...we are small breeders, 4 pair kakariki, couple Kings, crimsons, burkes, turquisines, all sitting and raising chicks.
What u dont see from us guys is when a bird goes down, or simply not right, we put down...it happens to the best.
Then think about us in NZ where there is no market for kakariki because of being native here and Gov regulations etc....we have to put down maybe 20. 30, and more heathy birds every yr.
Be it a sick bird or heathy, when I have to do this, or loose a bird, its not easy, and I dont ever want it to beI just take a bit of time out on the bench seat down the back of the garden, everyone leaves me alone for a while. If I ever felt I was 'harding' to it, then I would know I was a breeder without heart and would give it up.
When we and other breeders 1st started yrs ago with 1 pair, we made mistakes, things happened...didnt mean we where bad, its just part of it, be it birds, cats, dogs or cows.
The good 'breeder' picks up and carries on
Without the odd 'Downs' one has no way to measure the the more frequent 'ups' thats what makes life worth while. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
