Could somebody please tell me if mating a dark faze fallow hen to a normal cock will produce all split to fallow young. My hen has 5 normal chicks in the nest. Regards Laurie.

Thank you Peter, could you please tell me the difference between light faze genes and dark faze or are they connected, I have a number of both and do not know should I keep them seperate. Laurie.

This is something I puzzled my head over. So far I believe they are both belonging to the same gene. The difference is only individual. I noticed this difference in normals as well.
Combinations of Fallow and Cinnamon results in a Lutino looking bird.
I don't have experience with fallow kakariki, but... in cockatiels there are 2 mutations I know of that have variable expressivity, this meaning the same mutation can result in different shades of color depending on the individual.
One of them is edged (dominant silver), and the ohter one ash-fallow (recesive silver).
Pablo,
I believe that the Fallow Kakariki is a Bronze Fallow because it's the only Fallow in other species that has a visible iris. All others don't display an iris.

Hi Peter and Pabloc,Merry christmas, I have 4 what I call light faze fallows 3 hens and 1 cock, and 4 dark faze 2 cocks both pied and 2 hens not pied.all have a red eye with a destinct iris. My lutinos have a clear red eye ,but they are comming from the same pairs of birds. It is all very confusing. Iam breeding them to normals to see if i can sort the genes out at all.Regards Laurie.

Peter, you are right on every point. The parents are pied/ BEC cock to a cinnamon pied /BEC Hen. and pied cock/BEC /cinnamon to a yellow BEC hen. Both pairs throw fallow light and dark, and both pairs throw lutino, both throw yellow BEC as well as pieds and cinnamon pieds, quite a mix.
