We bought a Kakariki in December from a pet shop, she was in a cage with a male unfortunately the male had already been sold so we only got her. Since February she has been laying non fertile eggs, we are now on number 27, we have spoken to a breeder and we have been told that she is bored and not to worry. My husband is really concerned as she seems quite stressed after laying which is every two days, is this normal for a bird to carry on laying so many eggs?
Also she is moulting terribly, she has a bauld patch at the back of her head and she keeps rubbing it on the cage and perch. Anxious

It is the wrong season for molt, I would suspect mites from your description. A couple drops of invermectin on the back of the neck and another 10 to 12 days later.
Wash out the cage and everything in it, then mist spray both the cage and bird with 30/30/ soln of water

Laying eggs like that will have been a big straion on her system unless a consistant and varired diet has been supplied...wgich will also make her suspetable to mites and such.
Run word searches for diet and invermectin in the quick search block to the left ot or seach button above.

When you read thru older posts you may find it could be diffucult to source a couple ml of invermectin....not the UK posters who have sourced they may be able to help.

But get into the 50/50 vinegar thing, good diet and apple cider vinegar in their veggie diet at least once a week.....
