Sry . its not often, very rare actually , posts go unanswered

Your are going into autumn..they could be heading into molt
Sometimes its a couple weeks other times a month 6 weeks, just depends on the pair
Have they been mating?

Are you 100% sure that they are a true pair cos same sex birds can imitate mating? x

Perhaps you should get them DNA tested to be sure as you can normally tell by their beaks but that is not 100% guaranteed, If you want to breed them then you may need to sell one and buy another mate if you know the sex for sure x

Itis very rare that one cant tell by the beak, and confirn by the strip under the wing, and female is smaller
Of the 100s of kakariki we have breed, only 3 we have not been sure of.
One turned out to be a female early this season and has produced 5 batchs.
The other 2 are distant cousins ....havnt tried breeding of them .
They are big birds, beaks, could be either, and the strip is broken but well defined

It is very unlikely you will have kakatiki like these, and DNA should not be needed
Post up some pics.

I could quite easily tell with my pair but the other too was too close to call, so I think DNA is a good ideaif you are not sure, plus they were not breeding and were of age. Sexing by look only is not 100% guarantee but I appreciate those with lots of experience may be able to tell x

From experiance if "think a male" it will be
Doubt arises on rare occassions "think female," " but is it?"

I just think if you want to be 100% cos you only want one pair DNA is the way to go, let's face it nobody is perfect and if you only have one pair getting it wrong would be awful, I know I'm not always right about things and it is just my opinion, also Kakarikis should be kept only 1 pair per flight there are numerous article to back this up on the internet x

The 1st one is a male, and being a yellow, over 12 months old

The 2nd, the bar of the cage is in the way, not sure, but is between 6 months and 12 months old

Yellows have a pale crown till they get to over 12 to 15 months old.

Without close inspection, these look like very pure breed birds, very rare espec for yellows outside NZ.

Glad to see you managed to load up pics from my email
You can load several in the same post.

I notice the food tray, if you chop up the veggies to about 1/2 pea size, you will get far less wastage....peas and sweet corn leave the same size.
Chopped up will last 3 to 4 days in the fridge...dont mix fruit and veggies in the mix, doesnt last as long in the fridge.
