hi i just wondered if you could help me, my kakariki has started like regurgitating some kind of white gooey looking stuff which he kinda pastes onto his mirrow then eats it back up again and he keeps doin it though it doesnt seem he's being sick its like hes just doin it please help. thank you
This is normal. The bird sees his reflection as his cage mate. It is different when he or she regurgitates whithout a mirror or another object. In that case there are problems with the digestion.

for the reply mate i was kinda worried bout it but ive been watching closely and yeah hes like clunking away to the mirror and brings up the goo before sucking it back up...nice thanks for the help peter !!
o.k i'll keep a close eye on him what are the signs of crop infection?
Birds with a cropinfection make often a retching movement. It differs from regurgitating. The bird stretches his neck with open beak.
When he regurgitates the head makes a circular movement.
IF this happens get toa vet quick....they can be sick for some time dont show any sign, then very quiclkly go down hill..in hrs.
A balanced diet and apple cider vinigar promote resistance.
Im a firm believer birds are not prone to such things..in capitivity they are induced by poor diets...or diets that lack something. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
I'm not sure if this is the same or not, this evening Paulie has started to regurgitate her food, but not like I've seen before, its coming up in little groups of feed and its slimey. She has a bell in her cage which she rings as she's about to bring it up. She doesn't have a mirror or anything in her cage, just different perches and this bell. It's concerning me as she's doing it quite a bit and I've not seen it before.
Also some of what she has brought up is on the floor but right now she keeps bringing up the same bit, trying to swallow in down, the straight away ringing the bell with regurgitating movements and bringing it straight back up then swallowing it back down and so on..
I dont know why she don't just leave it if she can't keep it down cus she just keeps bringing it back again.
Well she kept doing it with the bell so Dad took the bell out of the cage. I was worried that she may get upset if she has fallen in love with the bell but so far she seems to be acting normal again. So just keeping my eye on her now incase she does it again but hoping she was just obsessed with the bell!
don't worry guys is not bad for the health of the bird, they usually regurgitate to toys and especially mirrors.
Probably we shouldn't let the birds get to regurgitate into mirrors because they can get really obssesed with it, as it happens with my gf's budgie, he goes nuts about the birds in the other side of the mirrors. I'm actually intrigued about what he thinks because he stops at 5 different mirrors in the house to chat and show off, maybe he thinks he's a playboy budgie.
Jokes aside I don't think it's very healthy for them because they get really really obsessed.

Yea Paulie was getting really obsessed already with it so we took the bell out and she went back to normal like the bell was never there, but earlier she looked as though she was starting to do it again with her hanging perch... I really hope not cus I don't want to have to keep removing things from her cage, she'll have nothing left!
She has just recently started making mating calls for the first time too so I guess it all fits so at least she's not ill, but I don't want her to get all obsessive!
