Wondering how comman mutations are in Aust???? I have been out today to a few pet / bird stores (live in melb) I went to a big chain store and a appatently well know repuatable birds store and a local guy that i got my brds from and apparently you cant get mutations!!!!! The guy at the big bird place told me all they get are normals and cinnamon and any other type of mutation dont come up and that they are very expencive...... When speaking to the others I dont think they even knew what I ment they kept on saying yellow fronted and I had to tell them what i ment... So I know from here we have breders so are they still relativly rare??? on the market ????are breeders keeping them for stock???? or is it just melb (me) ####kellie

Hi Kellie i live in Sydney and i find it very frustrating trying to get mutations. They do exist but trying to get good ones of breeders is nearly impossible. But in saying that i have got some good ones off Greg(kaka-riki) and another breeder in Melbourne. We are a bit behind in our mutations but if keep trying we will catch up. I have some pieds in green and cinnamon ,some mottled yellows and splits. If anyone has or knows of anyone who has some to sell in Australia i would love to hear from them. Thanks Kevin
Thats great, to see members actually corrosponding and sourcing kikes from other members.
We have also done so in NZ. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
Hi, check out the classifieds in the back of the Australian Birdkeeper magazines, there seems to be a few kakariki mutations popping up there lately. _________________ ~~INDI~~
