Hi my poor male is very poorly he is just sitting on a perch hunched with feathers puffed out. I have noticed very watery droppings in the cage. I gave them the normal food but did put a lavender flower stalk in to just to see if would like it. Does anyone know if this could have made him poorly? Or any advice on what to do?
Thanks Kirin

Hi,
I feed my kakarikis a whole bunch of lavender quite frequently, they eat the flower heads and nibble the leaves and use it to preen too. I dont think it will be the lavender.

Hi Steptoe, he was really well last night eating and being naughty as normal then in morning he was very sick. Would worms work that quick?
Thanks Kirin

kaka's and all birds are good clowns, if they were ill you wil not notice it untill it's to late.
It can be worms , also it can be an other sicknes.
Only a doktor can maybe help, can be a virus, fungus, bacterie, parasite etc.
I had some birds, one minut they where healty and a our later dead.

Do u use teflon no stick cooking pans?
Run a forum search for teflon...I personally believe this could very well be the biggest killer of household birds...it real bad news.

Hi I do not use telflon pans and the only thing the day before he died was i gave him the lavender and some mint but both in very small doses. I have racked my brains trying to think but get nothing . I dont use sprays or anything in my garden but do use cleaning things around the house(having a three year old) but have use these things before and all the time i had the birds. Thanks Kirin
