Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help. I''ve had my female Kakariki since June this year and up until now everything has been fine. She is kept inside and is an 'only bird'. I was told when I bought her that she was 8 months old. She flies freely round the kitchen every day however there is nothing left out that could be harmful to her.
So, the past week or so she displayed some different behaviour but I wasn't overly concerned until yesterday when I found an egg in the bottom of the cage! She nurtured it for a day and now seems to have lost interest. She isn't herself at all and this afternoon she was all puffed up/swallon looking and seemed uncomfortable. Her breathing seemed heavier and she just looks sad! She's usually all bright and sprightly. I'm so worried - please help! Crying or Very sad
Thank you

Possible egg binding....and if not dealt with quickley generally fatal
Usually becuase of diet and correct balance of minerails or lack of.
To the left is a "quick search" block
put in egg binding and start reading, including my experiments.
And get hold of your local avarian vet, if not one avalible contact you local bird socitety club...they will have an experianced breeder who is willing to help.
Make sure that you tell that person you fully understand that the bird may not survive if egg binding.
