What do u mean indoor/outdoor..what do u have in mind.
can u use a hammer, a saw and screw driver....that more than takes 2/3 of the cost off.

Neither I was good at DIY 5 yrs ago when I started keeping birds, but you eventually get better at it through practice.

How do you know that? built a play house and it fell down?
or you just think you are?
Or put another way...you are a student nurse..that takes a lot of study, commonsence, committment rught....the job is of rather an exactng displined nature...right
It doesnt ntake a rocket scientist to measure and mark a bit of wood.
Or to pull a saw back and forth....

or put it another way...and keeping the ChCh earth quake in mind...you are saying you could not throw together a basic shelter for yourself to stay sheltered dry ......

Being broke people can say "cant afford cant have, do without"
Or "I want one of those, I will make my own"

I do understand the problem you have is not DIY itself, but do not know where to start....often to solve a problem means identifing the real issue.

So post a pic, some diamensions what you would like, and between the peoplwe here we will tell u how to go about it, what you need etc.

Just remember: MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE.
You wont go wrong. Wink

1st you need a plan.
2nd the foundations....foundations to anything..have to be solid square and level.....a couple mm out and by the time u get to the other end or top it is way out...this isa the basic mistake people make.
Foundations can use 2nd hand ground treated timber, or bricks laid out around the circumference...level .....this is where a string a couple pegs and a level is used....a line level sting levels that hand on a string and cost next to nothing is all u need.

Then you lay out on the ground 2"x 2" cheap rough sawn timber framing to make front and back....with a cross peice at a level the width of the wirenetting/mesh u use.....buy a cheap pair of chines side cutters to cut the meag....use a square to make your saw cuts straight , and cnrs square.
put a nail in each eand to hold together.
Make some triangle plates about 6" x" 6" x what ever the long side come out at.
These get screwed in each cnr...because they are triangles, they not only hold it together they stop it from going floppy diaginally.

The roof is just plywood overlap the sides a little about 1" and is srewed on about 10" between self taping wood screws....
.
Will see if you understand this so far...

Cheers
