To be alone or not to be. That is the question

I had 2 cockatiels in a cage and 2 kakarikis in an aviary. I have lost 1 kaka and 1 cockatiel over the last couple of weeks. Old age is creeping in. Should I let them end out their days alone or can I shack them up together ? Both are males by the way. they seem okay but they must be missing the company of their mates. They are both about 10 -12 years old. duno

Kakariki in indoor- or outdoor aviary?

Do the kakariki and the cockatiel get along outside their cages?

They have always ben separate. The Kaka is in an aviary and has not ben outside the cage,

Ok... and with cockatiel cage you mean an indoor cage?

And you want to keep them both outside or take both inside the house?

I have several kakas and cockatiels that feed each other and try to mate, and I mean males.
In fact much to my dislike, I have a pair of tiels and a pair of kakas breeding together now, and the male cockatiel is more interested in the food the male kakariki regurgitates him than trying to court his female.

We have a 'display' flight...sort of retirement flight.....couple burkes, a touq a couple kakariki couple cocteils...
NPs.
Its best to add several birds at once rather than 1.

I think I will try to put them together and see how they go. they are both outside birds and they look and listen to each other during the day, so I will give it a go. By the sounds of your replies, they will be fine.

When i start to introduce birds into my outdoor avairy, i keep them in a separate cage but put the cage inside the avairy for a few hours at a time then the birds get use to the "newbie". Gradually i leave them longer and then i leave the cage door open and let my "newbies" find their own way out. If their is a fight my "newbies" have a "safty cage" to go back to.
