Breeding Question Help

Hi Guys, I have a Cock bird was breaking the eggs so i took him out for 2 months, put him back now & ill see what happens. If he still does this if I take him out after she lays a egg before he gets to it will she lay more ?? and be fertile even though I take him out ?? help would be great, Thanks.

i had a male try and kill the hen so had to remove ..... the hen continued on her own and i guess she would have been successful if it hadn't been for mistakes made on my part.
i read in a thread to yolk the egg and replace the insides with mustard and when the male tries this he shouldn't want to try again .. i havent needed to try this myself yet "haven't needed to touch wood" would be interesting to see if this does work!

Hi Bruce, mm could be a good idea that mustard thanks for that, if i have to pull him out again would she still lay & be fertile ??.

well my hen hatched one chick out of 9 so yes some could but i wouldn't recommend it .... i personally would try and cure the bird of it's addiction or source another cock. do a search on mustard to find the thread for more info on the matter it might help.

Mustard...well it would cure a human....wasabi very well could.
But considering our parrots including kakariki all enjoy nastersun, capsicum seeds and other similar hot stuff.....
And having a little whole seed mustard in the fridge and gave a little to our king house parrots

Our birds get sprouted mustard seed...which I would suspect not all the seeds sprout, so I would assume they know what they are.

Another old wives tale/ myth busted.
Another articule/ book aurther busted as purpetuating old wives tales, based on hearsy and not actually trying it out.

I have not tried wasabi...the real stuff is very hard to souce...most of the 'wasabi' is coloured horse radish...not true to labeling.

my birds also eat hot chillies with little effect birds have a lot fewer taste buds than humans .... i think the main point to this exercise is learning the bird that egg yolk is not what they will achieve by eating eggs whether it be mustard .. wasabi .. or something else less desirable to the bird.
whoever posted it " i cant remember " will hopefully have tested this method before passing it on and if it worked for whatever reason then it could be a handy trick to know ... luckily i haven't needed to try so cant really say if it would work.

Thanks Bruce, Steptoe, I have other birds but this 1 is such a good looking cock colour, big +++ thats why im trying very hard to breed those pair, but we shall see this time I might of taught him a lesson :?:
