hi he's a mutation for sure yellow/red fronted mutation with lutino recessive pied.

thank you he only 7 and a half weeks bless him, y ould he be yellow/red as both parents are red crowns and his crown is red apart from his orange stripe

ive just bred 2 green kaks and got sum with lutino in them .... jus becouse a bird doesn't show the genes doesn't mean theyre not there.

It looks like a hybrid cross between the red crown and yellow crown species rather than a mutation within a species.
Hybrids are not good for breeding and hybridising between species like that does nothing more than dilute the genetic purity of an endangered species...espec considering that there will never be any more come from th wild or even from capitivity in NZ.

No responsable breeder will breed hybrids, let alone sell them...and if sold are basically worthless.
Sry to be so blunt.
Please put up a good pic of the crown.

let me no if you need a closer one of him?? i no hybrid is a bad thing and if he as i ould sell or breed from him but his crown is definatly red and he also has the red circle shapes near his eyes

Still looks hybrid but a close up of his head/crown like the on on the site banner
Go into the galleys there are examples of hybrids mutations in there.
