Checked Meg’s nestbox tonight and almost died to see a fluffy in there :swoon:

Hopefully the others will all hatch too – though one does look clear

In the spotlight

Can you see him?

Meg getting all protective Laughing

Cool, now back off and let them do their thing...
And get good diet with protein, chopped chicken bones/cartiladge/meat/marrow with fruit, apples and kiwi fruit plus the chopped veggies....and watch how big and healthy they get ...If the parents are already to and consume such a diet.

Steps - they have been on a high protein diet for the last few months getting them prepped for this - they are eating very well, also they are getting additional egg food and cous cous Wink

I am very conscious of disturbing them and theirs and the chicks welfare some first - so there will only be updates when ness

Thanks May.

Well I had a sneaky peek in the box and saw chick number 3 working his way out of the egg, so I quickly shut the lid and high tailed it out of there <v>

Sad So sorry to hear that May, I do hope all of the others are ok too. Though we have had some freakishly hot weather this last week - wonder if that has anything to do with it.

News as of yesterday - we have 4 fuzzy butts in the nest

thumb robohip

May, don't worry too much, sometimes it happens that a chick dies, it can be a million reasons. The problem is when several die.

cheers/ Pablo

We had another flufster hatch.... and although Big seems to be being a bit rough with it... its meeping for food and shes feeding it and its growing .... and very fluffy.....darker on the head so thinking it might turn out pied... waiting to see if i get a few more... couple of the eggs look like they have babies in so keeping fingers crossed.

I did wonder if it was to do with the weather robo..its been very hot n think its going to get suddenly cold again soon so hope they are all ok.

Did you get your rings?

LOL - No May, I thought I would break myself in gently with my first clutch, not even handled them yet. Thought I would wait for Meg to decide when she would take a stretch and then check the progress of each of the chicks - Number 5 was there when I checked this morning <v>

All chicks seem to be of white down - attached is a pic from when there were just 4 - all dwn seems to be white - surely not all Buttercups Shocked

We had another fluffy today so all is good here too ..... ive only had <v> 's before and they all looked just like yours as chicks.... had a couple with just a few green feathers......but all the rest have been pure yellow with black eyes. This time tho is my first time ive had chicks hatch with a green parent... mum is yellow with 2 green feathers and dad is very dark green but has developed some yellow feathers since ive had him.... so pied.... the babies have lots of fluff more dark grey around the head but much whiter on their fat little bottoms........ so im very interested to see how they turn out happy^
