Parents hand raised? 2 nesting boxes? where they disrurbed...are u sure it was the parents and why? are they in a community flight? _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
they are alone they may have been disturbed .they both came out of the box with blood on there beaks .and there is 2 boxes in there flight nether bird was hand raised but i have partially tamed my male he will perch on my arm and likes scratches
Are you sure the blood on their beaks, is it because they "plucked" the dead bodies of the babies, or are you sure they killed their babies?
(I say this because kakariki will prey on dead birds, at least mine do, that doesn't mean they killed the bird, they just scavenged the dead body, and it can be disgusting)
About handfeeding, the handfeeding formula has about 18-20% protein, which apparently is the optimum protein % for cockatiels, but I think maybe that could be low for kakariki.
Maybe it's a good idea to add a protein supplement to the handfeeding formula?
I find it strange your lovebirds won't feed the baby kakariki, as lovebirds will even hatch and raise cockatiel chicks (I mean cockatiel chicks are very different in noise/begging and the head bobbing when fed to lovebird chicks, kakariki should be no problem).
Sorry not to be of more help, and good luck!!!

i had a read through that for a guide when i hand reard for the first time earlier in the year.... but it was just 1 chick and was 3-4 weeks when i started ..... i learnt you have to be quite precise about the temperature to cold and they wont take it and it cools down quick weather in a teaspoon or a syringe... but you have to be carefull its not too hot or you will burn their crop...!! i tested it on my wrist like you do a baby bottle.... good luck _________________ May........

I have hand reared kakarikis in the past - not too difficult - I fed them Kaytee hand rearing mix - and mixed some yoghurt (seived to remove fruit lumps). this keeps their gut healthy. I fed them via a 10ml syringe (needle removed of course). they don't require much - poss 30 - 40 ml to start with - a good guide is to check how full the crop is. Test the temperature on your wrist, and give around 5 feeds per day - keep them warm in a heated cage - around 28 degrees is good and keep a dish of water in the heated cage to keep the humidity up. Best of luck!!!

I used Hagen Tropican baby bird and parrot hand rearing formula which is 22% protein
im really pleased with how well my first hand fed baby did on it .... i mixed a bit into eggfood when he started eating on his own..... and hes doing fine :) _________________ May........
