Hi guys! Last time I wrote I had just bought my Tuky, now he is about 8 months old or so and I want to buy a partner, Ive read the articles about males being larger and having a bigger beak, but I have nothing to compare him with and hes my first kak so Im leaving some recent pictures and I hope you can direct me a little.
By the way! Recently hes doing strange thing when I come into the cage, he hunchs down, stretchs out his wings a little ( just like the female cockatiels when they mate with the males..) and emits low ooing sounds. The the budgie comes along (ALWAYS!) and gets on top him..is the bugie trying to mate with my kike? xD Its totally what it looks like... then would this mean Tuky is a female or is he just acting like one?...
Thank you very much for anything you can tell me guys!!
yes, the periquito is doing dirty stuff when he goes on top of your female kakariki.
Budgies are usually keen on mating with any animal that allows them to do so, they are relentless flirts. I have seen them do stuff with cockatiels also. _________________ AD ASTRA PER ASPERA
Dirty budgie! xD
Then can we assume my kike is a female for sure?
For those of you who have couples.. are they picky to chose a couple? Cause at the moment i was just planning to buy a single male..hope they like each other haha. Thanks!!
def sounds like she is doing the female mating thing.... and yeah budgies.....!!! i got one to keep a male kakariki company after his brother escaped and.... the budgie used to feed him and try mate with him.... so dont go on the budgies behavior ...... he even used to try mate with a plastic ball on a string .... i sold him !!!
ps. i cant seem to view your pic without making an account n logging in _________________ May........
donīt take for granted itīs a male, because a year ago I housed 4 males together and they formed 2 pairs, they fed each other etc...
I didnīt see them mating though. _________________ AD ASTRA PER ASPERA
The thing is my budgie is only about four months old...he is starting early
Then I guess the only way to be sure is DNA testing, but I already know what the rest of my birds are, I heard that for a single bird its expensive so guess Ill just buy a male for the moment and hope I hit the spot. thank you all
