I usually count about 1 month after the first egg is laid, couple of days more or less (maybe the first egg is not even fertile, maybe she doesn´t brood, and also sometimes depending on temperature they take 1-2 days longer to hatch).
But the actual time from start of brooding until hatching is about 20-22 days.
Nevertheless the first clutch is not always sucessful. _________________ AD ASTRA PER ASPERA
We have, traped the parents in the nesting box after a good early morning feed, covered the entry, unscrewed the nesting boxes from the flight walls, dismantled the avairy, transported 80 miles away, reasembled the avairy, screwed the nesting box back up and removed the cover on the entry......
About 8 to 10 hrs
The parents carried on as if nothing happened
3 nesting boxes.
We have also done the same, just moving nesting boxes from flight to flight, except just the female in there and moved the male separate. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
3 chicks this morning all hatched look pretty feeble how will i know she is feeding them and when will she start she never leaves the nest.. other birds i`ve bred i`ve seen the cock feeding or the hen busy busy busy she just sits tight all day and night how will she feed by doing this
Usually the male feeds the female inside thew nesting box with new chicksa and she then feeds them
But if the females is from a line of hand feed chicks, shemay not feed them, or if the nesting box on the 1st couple batches is disturbed she may not
After that hens get far more robust...tolerrant _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
