Newbi to this forum/Kaks and breeding questions.....

Are these parent hand raised?
We have noticed that hand raise kings, crimsons and other parrot species tend to loose their parenting instincts....anything from just laying but not sitting, not sitting correctly, to not feeding when hatched.

I bear with you, just be patient, possibly next time it works out better. Sometimes birds the first broods aren't that successful. For instance cockatiels there is a difference between the first breeding season and the second, after 2-3 clutches and when they are +2 yrs old there's a huge difference. Also....I think the way we handle and feed the birds improves with our own experience.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the support. I don't know about the male (as far as how he was raised). I am kind of suspect that he was hand raised, as he does not bite much when handled and talks. The hen I'm pretty sure was parent raised. I should contact her breeder again and ask for sure. She just does not act sociable towards people at all and when I moved them yesterday and had to catch them, she was NOT a happy girl and bit me several times and scolded me harshly!!!
I moved them into my son's bedroom, so they are out of the noisey bird room and all the activity of our house. They are pretty much hiding out in the nest box, as I think the move was rather traumatic for them! I just opened my son's door a couple of times to see if they were even coming out to eat, then left them alone.
My son doesn't spend much time in his room except to play video games every once in a while. Hes outside a lot, etc, so its the quietest room in the house....I'm hoping not too quiet!! I wonder if I should have a radio playing softly in there, just so other noises around the house and downstairs don't bother them too much.
I know it will probably be at least a month or more before she may lay eggs again, but I hope this change will help. I've also spoken to another kak breeder here in the states and he gave me some other suggestions. I'm not going to feed dry meal worms anymore, as the hard shells may be tough on the baby crops (when & if I get more chicks). He also reccomended that when I think she might be laying, to stop looking when I see the first egg & not check again for 21 days.
I think maybe they will respond better to there own chicks if they don't hear the loud peeping of the budgies, as she did feed that little english while he was in there!! Hes back with his real parents, who never batted an eye and just went right back to feeding him like he was never gone!! LOL, such a difference in my laid back budgies!!!
In the meantime, I am distracting myself by being (maybe idiotic??) by purchasing a young hen. She is almost 4 months old and I am hoping that by growing up in my bird room, she will be more used to it than Ember was. I have a pied male and after they are side by side for awhile, I will put them together, but not set up a nest box right away. She will be too young anyway.
Hopefully Ember will lay more eggs and be successful with her 3rd clutch!!! I will post when she starts laying again!!

Well, Ember is on her 3rd clutch. I found the 1st 2 eggs feb 14th. When I checked in 21 days, there were 11 eggs. Last night my son her peeping from the next box, but nothing today. I am wondering if I should check on her or not.
I have changed their environment completely, to a quiet room with only a radio on softly. There are 2 Kaks in the cage below them, but not a breeding pair yet, as the hen is only 4 months old.
What should I do?????
