I have 2 eggs I checked in the box this morning as pink (female) had growled at me from in there the day before when i was changing the water.....the eggs looked dirty though so not sure what that means.....I will check in there again in a few days i dont want to bother them too much

Make sure you keep the calcium levels up for your hen while she is laying and dont worry about the colour of the eggs. When she starts sitting tight the eggs will clean up as a result of her covering them. Probably not a good idea to keep sneaking a peak in the short term. Just make sure mum is okay and leave them to it. Young hens with their first clutches are best left alone. Once they get used to the idea of you being around you can do a few more checks. I have been giving them "avi cal" for a few weeks now also they are getting egg and buiscut every day plus I have been giving them meal worms evry day (I normally only give a few times a week or as treats) she seems to be doing fine and is still in and out alot during the day toby is fussing all over her and feeding her constantly.........

I am so incredibly jealous! (I'm wanting to sneak viagra into my birds' water as string quartet & candlelit dinners don't work LOL!!)

well karen apparently not really wanting them to do it yet workd wonders........I was hoping they would hold off for a few more weeks as we are going away on the 21st till 27th of april and of course guess when the eggs are due to hatch Shocked they have only had a box for a fortnight I thought it would take them much longer............but they were tying to nest on my fridge so i guess they were ready.........we'll see how it goes
