Hi,

I can see from Puku that they settle in quickly...she is like a different bird today!! She is hopping all over the cage, hardly sitting still for two minutes, chirping away...its such a pretty sound she makes! I have her by the back door and when I have it open she has been 'talking' to a black bird out there..how cute! Today when I came back from walking the dogs and again after I had been shopping she even came to the front perch and said hello (not literally of course!!), I was so impressed!!
I made her a cd of birdsong that I downloaded and she absolutely loves it and sings back to them! I gave her half a strawberry this morning actually and she did love it, her favourite thing so far seems to be kiwi fruit.
Her favourite toy thing is a coconut!! I just bought one from the supermarket...washed it of course, cut a square hole in it, pushed in the holes at the top and hung it from her cage...she loves it sooo much and spends lots of time pulling the strands from the shell and eating the coconut inside!

She hasn't had a bath yet though...not sure if Jonny had one in her old cage I will have to ask him. I don't think so though because she has perched on the edge of the dish but not actually gone in. She dips her food in her other water bowls though which I think is so sweet..its as if she is washing it or something!
Today I might try the sitting with my hand in business and start trying to hand tame her seeing as she has settled in so well!

Fingers crossed for another egg for you tonight!! Pray

Orange x

Hi Orange,

sorry for the delay in posting, pc had a freak out wall wall

Glad Puku has settled in well, i did warn you she will sulk for a while when you got her home signlol

Yes i did have a bath in her cage with kiki and kiwi, i just took out that morning so you didnt have to take a soggy bird home

Some one correct me if im wrong but be be careful with KIWI fruit skin, i read it can be bad for them.

I hang apple/ pomegranite or sweetcorn from the roof of there cage and they love climbing about to get it..

In the bottom of th cage i use the compressed wood chip cat litter stuff, the organic all natural stuff. As you said above it does help to absorb stuff, mainly access bath water d'oh!

Lets see some pics of her at home... d'oh!

Hi,

After I wrote that about her bath jonny I figured it was probably her sulking!

When I originally posted this message I had a cage without a grill in the bottom of it and so needed to know what to put in the bottom but I since did a zinc test and found that the cage was coated in zinc so just to be on the safe side I bought a new cage, this time it has a grill in the bottom, so the tray underneath is lined with just newspaper. I have put a cat litter tray with bits of grass and dandelion leaves, twigs, stones and bird grit in (changed daily) for her to have a scratch around in, she also has a plastic shelf layed along the bottom and her bath so that she doesnt have to walk on the grill the whole time, specially seeing as she likes to spend so much time on the bottom of her cage!
I am really impressed that she seems to be toilet trained pretty well, obviously by her parents as well....when she is out which was a good 5 hours today (with the cage open so that she could go in and out) she seems to go back to her cage whether it is inside or into the play stand thingy on top to poo!!! Only had maybe 3 poos outside the cgae in total!!
Just going to sort some piccies out right now and will post straight away Laughing

Fingers crossed for you Sarah Pray
How old are yours?

Orange x
(Dawn)
