i have a pair of kaks and the female is currently sitting on around 7 eggs
and the male is looking after her very well but he keeps sitting on top of the cockatiels and screaming. didnt think much of it but today i watched him and he was on top of the female cockatiel and he was mating with her i mean proper is this a problem can they breed with each other or is it nothing to worrie about. do i need to separate them or is he just felling lonely, because his misses isnt showing him much love.
As far as we can assertain. Kakariki will not cross breed with other species.
There is a thread here where there is a claim of cross breeding with a rosella...but members remain sceptical of the claim. Roseela are a ferrel wild release in NZ, and the population extends to most of the country now in large numbers...there is no recording of cross breeding in the wild either
If they do breed AND eggs hatch...Please let us know _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
