My hen 'Lucy' has laid 12 eggs and is currently lying on them along with the male 'Sonny' in the nesting box. Can you tell me how long it would be before the eggs hatch.

Do you have to give the hen special feed, change of diet to enable her to feed the chicks?

I don't know what I will do if the chicks do survive as I'm a complete novice and would be grateful for any advice.

Hi,

None of the eggs have hatched. The birds have been sitting on them for about a month and I noticed a fresh egg layed yesterday at the bottom of the cage. I then had a look in the nesting box only to discover that there is now 23 eggs in total. One of them was outside broken and it looked like it a yolk or something inside it.

All I can say is help!! duno

You might need to look into swapping one of your hens with a breeder - that is if you want your birds to breed?
In any case I'd take out the nesting box.
