this is my 3rd attempt for posting this message, for some reason I delete them by entering....

Has any of you got this problem too?

My two males are molting, and not a little bit but very much , like they have been fighting, and I remember that this also happend last year when their chicks have flown out.

Why arent the females molting ????

And why is it that bad, it looks almost like the bold pied one has scratched himself or been in a fight, and I am sure he has not

look at the picture below, the other one shows the hens.....

many greetings,
Marianne

hi,
um i dont like to tell some people my opinion as sometimes they take it the wrong way ,so PLEASE dont its just an opinion.
ok ive seen a lot of birds molt and your birds are the worst molters ive ever seen. to me it dosnt look normal, but hey mabey its is.
personaly for my own state of mind i would be taking them to the vet for a quick test ,for french molt as some people know it or similar.
you can have an avairy full of birds and out of 20 you could have 10 birds that loose feathers at certain times of the year and when they grow back they still dont look right and the other 10 look perfect all year round. the disease can effect birds so to the eye you can tell and even know the others look well they could still be carriers .you could have an avairy of realy perfect birds ,then one day some one brings back 1 bird he bought from you and the bird has no flight or tail feathers. hope this is of some help
debbie

We have found kakariki vary greatly in molt...from one hast to look close to notice to almost as scruffy as the pics...
In most cases molt is not very noticable.
The bird u have there is rather extreme and I tend to agree with Debbie.
Keep in mind, I have no experiance with mutiations, or know if they get more scruffy than wilds.
