HI,I HAVE 2 LOVELY KAKARIKIS BUT THEY WON.T EAT FRUIT,NUTS ETC,ALL THEY EAT IS THERE SEED.THE LADY I HAD THEM FROM SAID SHE TRIED THEM ON A BIT OF BANANA BUT THEY DIDNT SEEM TO BOTHERED. WILL IT HARM THEM NOT TO EAT FRUIT ETC. THEY SEEM HAPPY AND ARE ACTIVE. PLS CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE.
In the long term they will suffer heath problems
The reaon for them not eating fruit veggies is they where never raised correctly in the 1st place
Keep providing druit beggies on a regulat basis, over severaql months to a yr they will form a normal or near normal diet.
This issue is common with all birds, pet shops market seed and artificial foods simply because there is no profit in explaining most parrots eat 2/3 vehh/fruit 1/3 seed
Think about it, in the wild they tend to live in forrest, in forrest there is not much grass type seed, but a lot of leaf/berries/flowers/grubs etc. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
i had the same problem with Vandiv. i tried different fruits and veg and she ignored them. i tried different sizes, and found she started off eating things cut up into small pieces- literally 2-3mm. then over the course of time they got slowly bigger. she also started off only eating yellow peppers, then anything yellow, then anything i put in there. it was after that that i started increasing size. this is all in the last 8 months, and now, she'll try anything she can grip in her feet!
Hi Rayray,
be persistant with the fruit and try cutting it into small pieces thats what I also did with Tiki, now he can't wait to get his fruit and vegies, at the moment he has a liking for strawberries and snow peas.
So keep trying it will pay off.
Gina.
