Hi all, I am wondering the same thing as one of the posts below but have an added question..
Should I remove the nest boxs and mum and let dad finish raising the babies currently in the nest? This is about thier 4th-5th lot of babies consecutively and thought mum might need a break from all that laying??
Any advise appreciated
I they have everything needed, diet etc they will keep on and stop when they are ready...If minerials, vitimins, diet are lacking the chances of loosing the female is high....eventual egg binding is the most common issue.

The problem here is that it is very likely the hen will re lay in the same nesting box when the other is removed.
Either male or female can be removed...
with kakariki both the male and female feed, removing either one the norm is the other will carry on and raise the chicks. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
What if you take both out of the (smaller) Breeding aviary and put them in a larger one where you keep other birds/young kakis. Would that be an option if you want to give the hen a break?
yes...even remove the hen and nesting box wen the males is finishing of the last batch. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
